Welcome to Saltwater Bookstore, established in May 2023 by long-time Marblehead resident, Laura Cooper. An avid reader and book enthusiast, Laura was inspired to finally open a store of her own after frequenting many other independent bookstores from Notting Hill to Beacon Hill. She is excited for Saltwater Bookstore to be included in the resurgence of bookstores in the New England area, while creating a shopping experience that is uniquely Marblehead.
Saltwater Bookstore is located in the beautiful, seaside town of Marblehead, MA. Nestled in the heart of the historic district, Saltwater's storefront at 134 Washington Street was built in 1790 and is full of classic New England charm. Thoughtfully designed with a cozy, coastal vibe, we invite you to spend time browsing our curated adult and children's rooms, enjoying our custom reading nooks, and engaging with other local book lovers.
