Name: Glovers Regiment 18th Century Encampment
    Date: July 7, 2018
    Time: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM EDT
    Event Description:
Travel back in time to the 18th Century with the living historians of Glover’s Marblehead Regiment at a Revolutionary War Era encampment with activities for all the family. See 18th Century crafts and demonstrations, including musket ball making, navigation, marlinspike work, medicine, candle making, food preparation and militia musket drills as part of tours of historic Fort Sewall. The Forces of the Crown (as they were during the Siege of Boston in 1775-1776) will land in Marblehead and attempt to impose their will on the colonial rebels. Watch the Marblehead volunteer militia as they defend their liberties in street-fight skirmishes. You will hear music, including fife and drum concerts from the 18th Century throughout the day, refresh yourself with 18th Century snacks, or you can buy 18th Century wares from our sutler. Children will, on two occasions during the day, have the opportunity to sign up with the regiment, and then drill and march to the beat of a drum alongside regiment members. You can see a musket firing contest, and join with our soldier sailors as they regale the public with sea-chanteys. For all of this, we ask nothing but your interest and perhaps, a donation to the regiment so we may continue our mission to keep the revolutionary spirit alive in the 21st Century.
