    ABOUT THE EVENT:

Please join us for the unveiling of a temporary mural that will be displayed along the façade of Marblehead’s beloved Jeremiah Lee Mansion.  The mural – themed “Imagining the Way Forward” – is designed and painted by artist John Plunkett of Lynn, MA and will remain on display through the beginning of August.   This community-wide event will provide the opportunity for visitors and artists of all ages to respond to the inspiring mural through on-site art making in the garden.  So, come prepared to GET CREATIVE!  The artist will also be present to share his vision and process.

Public art helps bring the community together; It inspires, and it tells a story which can be interpreted in countless ways by the viewer.   Our committee sees a bright future for public art in Marblehead, and we hope you will join our efforts!

    ABOUT THE ARTIST:

John Plunkett is a Massachusetts based visual artist. He attended Montserrat College of Art, majoring in printmaking. Plunkett’s work is heavily derived from the expressionist and surrealist movements. Often he will use mixed media to distort and abstract both the figure and the landscape in an obscured nightmarish realm. The Prince of Winter is his first collaborative work in children’s literature. Plunkett is currently working as a freelance mural artist/illustrator and his work can be seen in cities around the Boston area. https://johnplunkettart.squarespace.com/
